One Campus Martius is a Downtown Detroit wedding venue that’s owned by Bedrock, a company that owns about five other venues in downtown Detroit. It offers a modern event space with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in lots of natural light and amazing views of the city. Your guests can even enjoy cocktail hour on the outdoor terrace that wraps around the building. It is one of Detroit’s larger wedding venues, and it can accommodate up to 350 guests.
The staff at One Campus Martius is absolutely wonderful, and because of them, it’s one of our favorite Detroit wedding venues to work in.
The Henry Ford Museum

The Henry Ford Museum is a quirky and unique Detroit wedding venue. The museum makes for a different background for your wedding, with various exhibits showcasing American innovation. While The Ford Museum is a public, non-profit museum, you and your guests will have private access for your event. It feels like a real-life version of Night at the Museum!
There are several options for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces. Typically, cocktail hours are held in the lobby. Following that, guests enter the main hall and are awed by the lifesize airplane hanging in the middle of the dance floor in your reception room.
Throughout the night, wedding guests will love exploring the many exhibits and checking out the vintage cars. There’s an old-fashioned diner area that’s absolutely perfect for a late-night snack location! The Henry Ford Museum is especially exciting for couples hosting out-of-town guests who will enjoy a night of fun and history combined. Speaking of guests, the museum can hold up to 400 guests.
Hiring a wedding planner that has experience at The Henry Ford Museum is crucial for your wedding there. With a short load in time and strict museum regulations, having an expert in the space is necessary. Simply Brilliant Events is on the approved wedding vendor list for the museum, and we would love to help you plan your big day there!
State Savings Bank

State Savings Bank is a historic bank that has been around since 1900 and is actually part of the National Register of Historic Places. It’s owned by Bedrock Events, who owns some of our other favorite Detroit wedding venues. The large event space features two gorgeous sections. Typically, couples hold their ceremony on one side of the space and their reception on the other side. The spaces are separated by a large wrap-around bar and the vault. It can hold up to 130 guests for a seated event and up to 250 for a standing reception.
The ornate white marbled interior and gilded ceiling make for the perfect backdrop for a chic wedding. While naturally beautiful on its own, the sleek venue is a blank slate, and all design and decor elements must be brought in by outside vendors. We have planned many weddings at State Savings Bank and would love to help you configure and design the large space to fit your needs.
The Whiskey Factory

The Whiskey Factory is an active whiskey and gin distillery in Downtown Detroit. The venue has a refined industrial feel and offers an empty slate for your wedding day. The old-school wooden floors, whiskey barrels, and cargo elevator really add character to the space and make it one of Detroit’s most unique wedding venues. The venue can hold up to 200 seated guests and 250 guests for a standing reception.
Having a planner will help you make the space your own since everything has to be brought in and out on the event day. We love working with the venue and its exclusive catering partner, Two Unique Catering. We can also help coordinate your own gin and whiskey tastings and specialty drinks for you and your guests.

Shepherd’s Hollow Golf Club
Shepherd’s Hollow Golf Club is a Detroit wedding venue with a gorgeous glass house surrounded by tall, lush pine trees. Indoors, you’ll find vibrant blue carpet and a black and white tiled dancefloor. Outdoors, there’s a beautiful fountain overlooking the glass house that’s perfect for your outdoor wedding ceremony.
Guests will enjoy the beautiful grounds from the wraparound veranda, which makes for a wonderful cocktail hour venue. Both the outdoor and indoor spaces can accommodate up to 325 guests.
We recommend considering the weather for your wedding season, as the ceremony space at Shepherd’s Hollow is outdoors.
The Daxton Hotel
The Daxton Hotel is a new hotel in Birmingham, MI that’s walkable to many nearby restaurants, bars, and shops. It features a modern, opulent ballroom called the Salon that is super luxurious. The venue can hold up to 300 guests for the wedding festivities, and it has 151 guest rooms.
The Daxton is known for its global cuisine, speakeasy cocktails, and excellent wine collection.
This venue is perfect if you want a centrally-located venue that your guests can use as a home base for the wedding weekend. The nearby restaurants and bars offer great options for your rehearsal dinner, wedding after party, and farewell brunch, too.
The Oakley

The Oakley is a gorgeous estate wedding venue in Holly, Michigan. It’s one of our favorite Detroit wedding venues! The lovely neutral and modern estate is situated on beautiful green grounds with rolling hills and oak trees. It truly has everything you’d want in a wedding venue— a large wedding suite, a stunning patio area for your guests to enjoy, and a large outdoor ceremony space in addition to the large indoor reception area. It can accommodate up to 230 guests.
The Oakley is unique in that guests book the property for full weekends and the wedding party can stay on the property for the weekend. The owners, Cathy, Ken, and Alicia McKay are such a joy to work with, and we get along so well. We love helping couples create unique events in this space. Whether you’re going for bright and bold or more classic, this estate venue can accommodate it all.
Meadow Brook Hall
Meadow Brook Hall is an iconic historic wedding venue near Rochester, MI on the campus of Oakland University. It’s actually a National Historic Landmark, filled with history and timeless details. The venue includes a historical manor and an all-season tent. It’s perfect for weddings of different sizes, and the indoor and outdoor spaces can be combined to host up to 300 guests. However, if you are hosting more than one hundred guests, you’ll need to host your ceremony outdoors.
We’ve previously planned an intimate wedding in one of the dining rooms, and it was such a fabulous venue for the smaller party. Also, we absolutely love the Christmas decorations they put up every year around December. It’d make the perfect luxury Detroit wedding venue for a holiday wedding!
The venue occasionally holds wedding open houses for engaged couples to visit and see all that it has to offer. We’d be happy to offer guidance as you consider a Meadow Brook Hall wedding!
The Garden Theater
The Garden Theater is a historic building, which originally opened in 1912 and hosted live music and productions. It is one of Detroit’s original sixty-two theaters and it’s been remodeled into a modern wedding venue. The exposed brick walls, modern light fixtures, and tall ceilings create a dark and moody atmosphere that can be played up or down with your lighting and decor choices. The large space can accommodate up to 250 guests.
In addition to the gorgeous ambiance, the venue’s amenities include a stage, a full-service bar in the main theater, and a VIP balcony. We love coming up with creative floor plans for this large space. It can truly take any design direction you choose!
Colony Club

Colony Club is a beautiful historic building in Downtown Detroit that first opened in 1929. It was one of four women’s clubs in the area back then. The ornate venue features gold leaf ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and luxurious decor. It has two event spaces which include the Grand Ballroom and the Petit Ballroom. The Grand Ballroom is two floors and is perfect for a wedding reception. The Petit Ballroom is great for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours. The space as a whole can host up to 500 guests.
Colony Club is known for its delicious catering and great service. We love helping couples make the large space cohesive and inviting for their guests.

Gem Theatre
The Gem Theater is a sister company to Colony Club and is located right next door to the Detroit Athletic Club. It was built in 1903 and held Detroit’s first building permit issued in a woman’s name. The current owner, Charles Forbes, purchased the building in 1990 and restored the theatre using the original carpeting, historical chandeliers, and antique theatre seats from a theatre in St. Louis. Unfortunately, it closed in 1997 because of the demolition of a neighboring building. But, in late 1997, the Gem Theatre was moved five blocks to be relocated to its current home at the corner of Madison and Brush Streets.
Couples typically host their wedding ceremony on stage with their guests looking on from the theatre chairs. Then, they move to the downstairs area for the wedding reception. It can accommodate up to 450 guests and offers full-service catering and bar service.
We absolutely love the location of this venue and think it’s such a unique Detroit wedding venue! Just be sure to check your potential wedding weekend to see if any other sporting events or festivals are taking place, as those can sometimes lead to heavy traffic and parking complications.

Detroit Athletic Club

Detroit Athletic Club is a stunning wedding venue that is rich in texture and legacy. The elegant dark wood, ornate ceilings, and elegant drapery make for an extremely classic and timeless wedding venue. It offers a private getting-ready space, a beautiful library for cocktail hour, and a breathtaking main ballroom. It is a private members’ club, so all couples wishing to celebrate their wedding there must be a member or be sponsored by a member.
We love recommending the DAC to couples that want a truly timeless wedding. Between the gorgeous space to the outstanding synchronized service, we adore working at this Detroit wedding venue.

Highlands
Located in Downtown Detroit, Highlands is on the 77th floor of the Renaissance Center building. It is only accessible by a special elevator that services the floor. It has marvelous floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase amazing views of the city. With how high up it is, you can actually see all the way to Canada! We once had a couple that was a Canadian bride and an American groom. The bride’s family traveled from Canada for the wedding day and got a laugh out of being able to see their home country from the venue!
Highlands can host up to 225 seated guests. It’s important to note that vendors may include an additional fee in their services for the difficult load-in. Having a wedding planner familiar with the space is critical to keep set up and tear down running smoothly.
Grosse Pointe War Memorial

It has a reception room, dining room, and library that can accommodate an intimate reception of up to 125 seated guests spread throughout the rooms. Additionally, you could use the space for a strolling cocktail hour. Out back, the beautiful gardens make for the perfect ceremony location and photo backdrops.
For your reception, the ballroom is a sprawling reception space that has panoramic views of the lake. It also has a gorgeous two-story patio overlooking the house, gardens, and lake. It has a modern vibe with modest chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows, and gorgeous hardwood floors. It can seat over 300 guests, and it has ample space for a DJ or band, a dance floor, and a cake table.
